Finally getting my act together ~

I guess it's about time!!
It took my parent's coming to visit for me to get myself in gear ~
Isn't that funny how having someone over really motivates you?
You're probably getting sick of seeing photos of me trying to get
this studio put back together.

And you have to realize,
it's like cramming 20 lbs in a 10 lb bag!

My wall of wonderful gifts from sweet blog friends ~

And as I lower my camera...you can see I still have a few more things to put away :)

Much love from your friendly neighborhood hoarder....
Have a wonderful Tuesday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Dawn,
It may not help you to hear this but I truly believe that when we have less space we make the most of it. When you first posted about having a converted garage as a workroom I thought that sounded fabulous...but if I had that much room...whoa....look out. I'd have so much stuff that I wouldn't know what to do with it all. Now mind you, I'm just talking about myself and the way I buy....it's a personal problem :). Having a smaller space forces you to "purge" every now and again to make room for what you really need.
Your new space looks so inviting....have fun with it!

Hi Dawn,
You certainly did fit it all in there! You did great. I'm coveting all your fabric! I would love to have all that for my collages! ;) I use to have a 9x9 room and then we moved and I now have a 18 1/2x 17! I'm in heaven. I didn't think I could fill it... but I did! Just having a craftroom big or little is a blessing to me.
Enjoy your new space.

Dawn,
You did good girl. I'm not getting sick of it, I could look at cool stuff forever! The top picture is awesome. Look at those curtains!!! Oh I wish they hadn't fit the new house. LOL Your knack for display is top notch, you know that right? I had to zoom each photo & snook. But I really wanna go thru each of those little drawers on the bookcases & see whats' inside. Lisa
PS I know what you mean about having company lite a fire under your booty. I got the same deal going on here, in about 3 weeks!!

You'd make a wonderful, shabby chic interior designer!
I can't keep my fabric folded neatly like that except when I first organize!
Love those drapes in the first photo!

If you want me to, I will come over and remove the extra stuff so you don't have to put it away:) hehe Uh, like I have room for it! All of that beutifulness in your studio, WOW! Love the storage drawers and cubbies! Enjoy your day and don't work too hard! HUGS!

You must be an incredibly gifted packer. You've tucked in so many delights that I can't imagine where the other ten pounds went. ;D It's looking great...

Dawn you did an admirable job of cramming 3 rooms worth into one and it's all so tidy! You have such lovely things you can't help but be inspired. I covet and envy your dress form with the wooden ball knob on top, I believe by Baumann? I've been watching ebay but they are soooo expensive, like $350. Do you ever see them in your junking expeditions? I have wanted one for years but no luck so far. Great job girl!

Oh my gosh you have so much wonderful inspiration objects... You certainly have many options to be creative with.I know you have made your new place to dwell a charming , lovely home... I love the curtains... Are they featured in Jeanne d Ark ?Everything is so lovely... I can't wait to see what you do for Christmas.... I most likely would have went right into Christmas decorating for lack of energy to do both in such a short time frame... It is always fun to place things in new surroundings however... Blessings....

Dawn,
You have a beautiful creative space. I have a small room myself, but it isn't pretty like yours. I wish I could see it in person and *touch*! LOL! I particularly love your jars. I just started collecting pretty jars & been filling them as I have time. When you have a minute would you stop by my blog & get me your expert opinion on my new finished items for my craft show? You had posted on my blog in June about my spoons with nests and now they are finished, as well as some bottle brush trees. They are in the current two posts. Thanks! :-)
Blessings,
Cindy

It looks like you're in business, Dawn! Is that large glass jar filled with your lovely egg soaps? Love the way that looks! I think that even if someone was coming to visit, I'd rush to cram it away somewhere rather than doing it right. : ) But that's just me and my mood at this age. Of course, we always used to take on house projects right before a holiday or event at our house and then we HAD TO get it done.

Love the over-the-door bag. It looks like Christmas morning feels.

There is one more way you could squeeze a bit more out of your space, but I hesitate to tell you so late in the process. You can have more wall area instantly by removing all the doors and windows from the room. This, I think, is a clever solution, but it hasn't proven to be very popular. (You could argue that your parents would not know if you had straightened up, or not!)

You are doing marvelously well. You have just moved after all. Are your creative juices ready to pop after all the handling of goodies? It is the best pay off for putting away one's toys.

Hi Dawn,
The last time I visited, you had just started unpacking. Your new studio looks great. And it will probably be better than your other one because you won't have so much stuff around you to look at - less distracting, you know?
